Ethereum Name Service (ENS) is a distributed system website domain name service based on Ethereum blockchain technology. It announced that the number of new registrations in 2022 will exceed 2.2 million.

This service celebrated the best year and became the most widely integrated blockchain technology naming specification in the market.

The 2200000 new ENS names registered in 2022 also account for about 80% of all domain names established. According to data from Dune Analytics, the registration rate will be the highest in September 2022, with more than 400000 newly registered names. With the end of the year, the registration rate slowed down, and only about 50000 new names were added after the end of December.

According to the data information of Dune Analytics, the number of ENS names established so far has reached 2.8 million. The data of the service platform itself shows that the data is about 2.76 million.

2.8 million names belong to about 600000 unique participants in the naming service of ENS, which indicates that several names have become the norm of streets.

The rapid registration rate in September may be the result of the ENS integration of Coinbase. The trading center allows customers to change their wallet login name to the ENS sub domain name of Coinbase ID in the middle and late August. Coinbase said that the detailed address of ENS is suitable for pushing, receiving and paying coins, and can be used by both general users and professional customers.

At that time, the original token ENS of the website reached a new historical record of $20.05. The token has continued to decline since it was higher in September, and stopped falling during the collapse period of FTX. At present, it has been tamped around 11.10 yuan.

Almost a year ago, ENS announced that it had been trying to use the second layer of Ethereum. At the end of January 2022, the service completed the first version number of its off chain solution and was ready for testing by developers. Although it is not clear when the second layer will run, this implementation may lead to a new wave of name registration of ENS.
