According to a statement on January 12, ETH Layer 2 Internet Irregular Graphics (MATIC) gave a hard bifurcation on January 17, according to the change of BaseFeeChangeDenominator to reduce the maximum gas value and detailed address chain reorganization.

Irregular pattern gas peak reduction

The Hard Bifurcation Plan scheme hopes to reduce the cost of basic natural gas from 12.5% to 6.25% by changing the BaseFeeChangeDenominator from 8 to 16, thereby reducing the maximum value of this natural gas.

When the natural gas cost is higher than or less than the target natural gas quota of a blockchain, the design scheme will lead to a smoother and smoother rate of increase or decrease in the basic cost.

Polygon added that during the peak period of market demand, natural gas costs will still rise. However, this will be consistent with the working state of the Ethereum gas dynamics model.

"We hope to clear the peak and ensure a more seamless feel when interacting with the transmission chain."

Chain franchise restructuring

Hard bifurcation can also repair chain reorg by reducing the length of the sprint from 64 to 16. This will greatly shorten the time for blockchain manufacturers to continuously produce blockchains and reduce the depth of restructuring.

Although this will not affect the time of stock trading, it is expected to reduce the depth and frequency of restructuring, and thus improve the finality of trading.

Hard bifurcation will not affect the interaction technology between customers and Polygon or its blockchain technology application software. The connection point network operator must update its connection point before January 17.
